Fall is here and our farmers and vendors are rolling out an abundance of late season produce. Think: squash, pumpkins, maple-infused whisky, apple cider donuts… Why not purchase some apples from Migliorelli Farms or R&R Produce and try them an entirely different way–savory and roasted alongside a whole chicken with just a sprinkling of sage, salt and pepper? Just quarter several large apples along with an onion or two and tuck them around the periphery of the chicken. It’s a perfect fall meal, when paired with a tossed salad and maybe one of master baker Michael’s sourdough boules from Journeyman Bakery.
Market Entertainment: We’re keeping it simple this week. No live music, but our favorite balloon artist, Nora Maher, returns to create fanciful balloon creations for young market-goers to take home. Catch Nora at the Grand between the hours of 11 and noon.
**There will be no ready-to-eat vendor this week, but All You Can Pita (and possibly crepes) will be back next Saturday. In the meantime, we encourage you to try one of our many great downtown restaurants located Division, Main or Hugeunot Streets. Modern Restaurant and Lounge (Italian); Korean BBQ and The Mexican Corner are just a few of New Rochelle’s many delicious culinary indies to check out. Find additional ideas in the restaurant section of the downtown Business Improvement District’s website.
