Savor old New York deli aroma of cucumber and brine at the Pickle Me Pete table, with a full range of varieties – Kosher dill, full sour and half sour. These are authentic pickles, barrel-cured the old-fashioned way in Brooklyn. Yet some of the flavors are a little more inventive. At one side of the table is what might be called a challenge zone, with wasabi-sour, super spicy and the – no joke – Ridiculously Spicy pickles, those last ones bobbing in brine tinted a try-me-if-you-dare red. Made with extract from habaneros for a more-atomic punch, it ranks on the Scoville Scale somewhere between “Call 911” and kissing Napalm. (Be warned: the brine holds the burn.) Looking for something a little different? The pickled green tomatoes, another classic.
