In 2012, owner Leslie Allicks transformed the shop into a catering business, The Tea Experience, that hosts tea parties for bridal parties, baby showers and tea tastings simply for the love of the brewed leaf. Now you can enjoy Allicks’ brews at the Grand Market. She will offer a new herbal tea each week, plus coffee and macaroons. Or try the cocoa whipped up by Allick’s assistant Phara Lamarre, a graduate of the Monroe College culinary program, with real cocoa, Madagascar vanilla, nutmeg, star anise and cinnamon. Allicks also sells her teas from around the world – she has almost 40 varieties, including chai, English breakfast and green tea from China – packaged in her in attractive tins. A special blend is Obama 44, honoring the President with black tea from Kenya, bits of apple to represent America, mango for Hawaii and cinnamon.
